April 5th, 2020
Dear BGC Members,
We hope that this letter finds you well and safe, and enjoying your garden!
Inevitably, given the current pandemic situation, we (the BGC Committee) have had to make some unhappy decisions about the Club’s planned events for 2020. It doesn’t help that all this coincides with the arrival of a glorious Spring and the start of another wonderful gardening year. But needs must, so please be advised:
The following events and talks have all been cancelled (hopefully to be rearranged in the future):
April 14th. Tony Russell talk
May 12th. Nick Wray talk
June 9th. Alan Gould talk
June 25th. Evening Garden visit to The Old Rectory, Nr. Wantage
July 14th. Samantha Hopes talk.
July 23rd. Annual Outing to Eastleach House and Bourton House (both Gardens have already advised closure on and around that date)
In view of all this, we have decided to return to Members all cheques sent to us for Membership fees for 2020, for the Evening Garden visit and for the Annual Outing. These will be sent by post, in the near future.
In respect of the Rosy Hardy talk, planned for August 11th, we hope that this will go ahead, but will await further advice. If it does proceed, we will charge entry at the door.
In respect of the Members-only Evening Garden Party, planned for September 3rd, we certainly expect to have the all-clear by then, but will await further advice. However, in the meantime, we will plan to go ahead with this event, so will bank the cheques received from Members for entry to this Party (64 received, to date, and space for plenty more!) and hope for the best and have a great evening.
This letter will be posted on our Website, as well as being circulated to you all by email.
We hope that you agree with our decisions and actions arising. We have tried to be positive in difficult circumstances, and keep as many doors open as possible. We can only hope that one of the unforeseen consequences of this social distancing will be a huge resurgence in enthusiasm for gardening!
The BGC Committee
To: The Members of the Bradfield Gardening Club.

Re: Talk by Tony Russel, on April 14th, 2020, at 07:30pm, at the
Bradfield Village Hall.
I am very sorry to have to advise of the postponement of the above event, due to the current coronavirus situation and the advice received to minimise the risk of infection to the public.
We will keep our future planned events under careful and constant review, in the context of maintaining the wellbeing of our membership, consonant with the medical recommendations made by the various National and Local authorities.
We will keep you posted and look forward to meeting you all later in the year.
